Chapter Seven

My so-called honeymoon was a total bust. How could I have sex with Vorian when Bey was always lurking about. Talk about a mood killer, but did that stop Vorian? Oh, hell no. For six days, Vorian kept trying to seduce me. He reminded me of a hormonal teenager. Okay, I gave in a couple dozen times. I mean, who could resist all those luscious muscles, magical fingers, and his awesome sex toys. Whooeee!

Vorian nibbled on my ear, “Could I get some avocado on my breakfast burritos?”

“I think I can conjure some up.” Rolling over in bed, I gave him a long, hot kiss.

“Ack. Ack.”

“Give it a rest, you eight-legged freak,” I snapped.

Vorian ran a hand over his buzz cut. “We are a newly bonded pair, Bey. We are driven to touch each other.”

“I should not be forced to watch humanoids sex acts,” Bey shot back.

I was really tempted to zap the annoying insect. “Then stay out of our bedroom and remember, you stowed away on our ship.” I stiffened as the sensation of overwhelming danger hit me. I quickly scanned the area.

“What do you sense?”

“Rodan ships.”

“Warning. Warning. Two hostile crafts approaching. A Rodan battle fleet has also been detected. Take evasive maneuvers now,” a computerized voice pronounced.

Vorian vanished.

I ported to the cockpit.

In full armor, Vorian was seated at controls and his fingers flew over the control keyboard. My gentle lover had been replaced by the War Commander.

The tracking scanner showed two Marauder closing fast.

Bey scurried across the ceiling, “How did they find us?”

“Marion’s talisman is a tracking device, and a hacker bot was planted on the aft sensor array. Our shields, weapons systems and cloaking device have been disabled,” Vorian replied.

“How did they manage that?” I engaged my armor and strapped myself into the co-pilot’s chair.

“We have a traitor at Central Command. Once we came within range of the Rodan fleet, they triggered the hacker bot to sabotage the power relays.”

“I’m surprised they didn’t disable the engines too.”

“The hacker bot was damaged by space debris,” Vorian replied.

“Lucky us.”

The Marauders opened fire.

Vorian took evasive maneuvers.

I hurled two mental grenades at the Marauder pilots and watched as the ships streaked by us.

“Are the pilots dead?” Vorian inquired.

“No, but they will be unconscious for a couple of hours. Hopefully, they’ll crash into something before they wake up.” I watched as the Rodan fleet got closer and closer. “My invisibility spell might work on the ship. Want me to try?”

“Do it. In another two minutes we will be within firing range.”

“Quant fu brisiez.”

“Well done, our ship vanished off the tracking scanners.” Vorian gave me a hard mental kiss.

“Ack. Ack.”

I zapped Bey.

He retaliated with a web ball.

The ball struck the back of my head. Shit! I should have engaged my helmet. I quickly chanted a spell to remove the sticky strands and return the mess to Bey. A laugh escaped me as I eyed the gooey mass stuck to the Tabor’s face.

“We are at war with the Rodan, not each other,” Vorian growled.

“Sorry, the eight-legged freak brings out the worst in me.
